Stage IV, it has spread to other organs and has been deemed inoperable. My friend is seeking second and third opinions. I was hoping to find another mode of treatment in addition to chemo.

I understand now. There are many alternative or complementary treatments that can be utilized in addition to chemotherapy. The link below lists these other treatments.

Hello and thank you for sharing your question. I'd love to give you helpful information on the matter.
The type of treatment for pancreatic cancer will depend on what stage the cancer is in. Often it is hard to see from CT scans and ultrasounds just how far the cancer has spread. Thus, surgery is necessary to determine if the cancer is isolated and can be removed during that surgery or not. If it has spread, then chemo is the next best option.
If your doctor has recommended surgery, he probably already knows the cancer is too widely spread to be removed by surgery. Chemo is the best treatment there is at present for wide spread cancer.
