You guys seem to know what's what. Maybe you can help. I'm 17 and I haven't had a period since april 28th. I had unprotected sex with my ex and I still haven't had my period. So I'm like a month late and freaking out. I have been under a lot of stress because of the recent break up between me and my ex, and he now has a new gf. I've been crying and having panic attacks daily. I know stress can cause periods to be late, but about how late. I'm too scared to take an HPT because I never have before and I'm afraid it might jinx it, and I will be pregnant.

Help. :(

Thank you so much. I really do appreciate it. I would just like to know your own opinion. Do you think I'm pregnant. I know your not a doctor or anything but just by what I've told you. Im not having any symptoms. Do you think I should take another test? wouldn't it be accurate since I haven't had a period in about 9 weeks

Ok well I just googled it because I didn't want to give you false advice. I read that 15% of women will have a delayed period after using plan B. So my suggestion would be to wait for another week or so and if there's still no period present, then visit your family doctor to determine the cause of your late menstrual cycle. I hope this helps! Here is the link I read. Maybe it'll help you to read it.

No I haven't had ANY sexual intercourse since June 5th. My current boyfriend lives 4 hours away so we haven't seen each other. Also my ex used the pull out method, he said he didn't cum in me at all. I just went to get plan b just incase. Is it possible that plan b delayed my period? I don't think Im pregnant because Im sure I would be experiencing some kind of symptoms, but then again I don't know why I missed a period.

Hi I'm in the same boat as you. Im 17 as well and had sex with my ex, and Im currently in a relationship. I know it's so stupid and I'm so scared. We had sex June 5th and I took the plan b one step June 6th. I got what I thought was a period June 12th(which was the expected time). The period before that was May 13 so I'm pretty sure I wasn't ovulating June 5th. My period are usually about 30--38 days apart. Its now August 9th and I have yet to have a period(since June 12th) I completely skipped July. It's been 58 days since my last period. I've taken 3 pregnancy test which were all negative. Could I be pregnant? Or can plan b mess up my menstrual cycle to that extent? Please I'm so scared. I don't want to tell my boyfriend because what happened with my ex was a mistake. and I regret it more than anything. Also, my mom has been asking me when my period is supposed to start (she doesn't know I'm sexually active or took plan b) and I told her I'm really late. She told me that something could be wrong with me like an infection or something. Please just give me some advice. Im just really really scared. Please help me

Hi! Ok as a mother of 3 children, I know that these things CAN happen but reading the information you have provided us with, it sounds like there is a slim chance that you are pregnant. Now, I have a couple questions for you. First thing, have you and your current boyfriend had unprotected sex since June 5th? If so, it is possible that you are pregnant with your current boyfriend's child. The fact that you have taken 3 pregnancy tests and they all came back negative is a good sign but sometimes people get a false negative result. The best time to take a test is in the morning when you wake up. If you still don't have your period and your result comes back negative again, I'd visit your doctor. He can do a blood test to make sure you're not pregnant. He can also help determine what the problem actually is if it isn't in fact pregnancy. Maybe you should talk to your mom and let her know that you are sexually active so she can lead you in the right steps to being safe. Good luck and let me know what happens!

Hi,
I'm sorry you are scared. Do you know how long your cycle is, typically? If your LMP (last menstrual period) was April 28th, and today is June 7th, that puts you at 40 days. When were you expecting your period (in other words, how "late" are you?). The only way to know if you are pregnant is to take a HPT, visit your doctor or a local clinic; your late period could be caused from pregnancy, stress, new medication.. many things "cause" late periods.

Taking a HPT would not "jinx" the results, as you are either pregnant or not pregnant at this point. The HPT would provide information that you need to make an informed decision, and the earlier the better.

Please think through your options if you are pregnant, and if you are not pregnant. Do you have a trusted friend or family member whom you can talk to, regardless of your results? If you do have an unwanted pregnancy, you will need someone to talk with, and beyond family/friends it could also be your doctor, a school counselor, or Planned Parenthood. If you are not pregnant, you will still need to speak with someone about getting on birth control, and learn about emergency contraception to prevent an "accident" in the future (taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex to help prevent a pregnancy).

Here are some resources for you below, if you do not have a trusted friend or family member to talk with. Please let us know if you need any support or additional information, either way:
- Find a Health Center, Planned Parenthood
- Birth Control Options
- Emergency Contraception
