I found a website about Amberen and this all natural product was highly recommended by several people; most of them RN's. Is this product safe to take? Have you ever heard of the product? is it just for women who are in menopause or can someone my age (41) experiencing very minor symptons (weight gain and breast tenderness) take this product?

Oh, what I don't like are the commercials. They keep touting this as a weight loss solution when losing weight taking Amberen has not been proven and more times than not, does not help in that area. So, why set themselves up for bad reviews by focusing on weight loss in their commercials instead of ridding ones self of menopause symptoms?

Just got my boxes of Amberen today. Going to give it a try. Am Hypothyroid and taking 2grain Armour thyroid which helped a lot with fatigue and brain fog. Did natural hormone cream a few years ago for a little over a year with so/so results. Am 53, been in full menopause since I was 49. Hot flashes aren't horrible, just annoying. Will see how this does. Am commited for the 90 days unless I experience adverse affects. Since I work at a medical clinic, being under supervision is no problem. LOL. The box says just to take once or twice a day with food. Will it matter if it's morning or evening?

Update: Our Nurse Practitioner doesn't think it will work but says it shouldn't interfere with the Armour thyroid or bother me. Says I should know pretty quick whether or not I get an adverse reaction. OK, so that was a challenge. She says the only problem with these kind of supplements is that they have not been approved by the FDA and they could have anything in them. Anyone remember the FDA approved drug PhenPhen? Or any one of the many approved pharmacueticals the FDA has approved that there are now big lawsuits going on because people are being hurt or dying from them? Seriously, the ingredients are on the box, granted it doesn't say how much of each ingredient is used to create that 400mg but none of the ingredients are chemically manufactured either. Now I really hope this works just so I can say, "I told you so."

I am 52 and have been post menopausel since the age of 47. I started going thru menopause at the age of 37. 6 years ago I was taken off the pill. My doctor did a blood test because she wouldn't believe I could already be thru menopause. I was on birth control for migraines and once off, the migraines came back with a vengence. I am on day 24 of Amberen. I thought I'd give it a try and see if it relieves the migraines since I suspect they are hormonal. I only had to take Imitrex 3 times in the last 2 weeks but then missed an Amberen dose and had a terrific migraine this morning. I have been taking Imitrex almost daily. I also noticed more hot flashes today than I had the previous 2 weeks. Since 9 Imitrex runs $400.....I would gladly pay the cost of Amberen. My vote is still out...I'll wait the full 90-days to make a decision of whether Amberen truly works...but so far so good.

I have been using Amberen for 1 week and have found that it improves my sleep tremendously. After two years of not having a good stretch of sleep, I am now able to sleep for 5 hours, which is a god send.
September 26, 2011 - 11:15amMy question is, what happens during the "off cycle" ? What are others experiencing during the "off cycle"? I would hate to think things revert back
