Hi gerdaer,
January 31, 2011 - 7:51amThank you for your question and for joining EmpwHER. These are questions you should ask your own obstetrician or midwife/doula. They are most familiar with your personal health, and could help you make a decision if taking these supplements would be worth any risk to your pregnancy.
When pregnant, most women are suggested to not take anything that isn't crucial to your wellbeing. If you can live without it, then do so, for now. Many supplements are not encouraged in pregnancy simply because there is not enough scientific evidence to support safety for using while pregnant. Caprylic acid in particular is generally not recommended for pregnant women, but I did not find anything saying if bentonite was safe or not. How are you using it? And is the Caprylic acid being used to try to alleviate vaginal infections? Have you had the infections on an ongoing basis, or is this a new thing?Ask your personal doctor to weigh in. Bring the products to your next appointment, or give them a call.
Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
