I was on Microgynon 30 for nearly 9 years with no problems what so ever, until a couple of months ago I noticed a rash appear on my neck, my doctor advised me to go onto Clist to see if that would help the rash fade away. Thing is as I was due to start taking the pill after a 7 day break on the Saturday but couldn't get to the docs till the Monday and started taking Clist that night, missing two days. I had unprotected sex with my partner on the Tuesday but have carried on taking Clist as normal. Am I at risk of pregnancy? Also do I have to wait for my period to take a pregnancy test or can you do one before?

If you missed two pills in a row, did you double-up on your pills as directed?

When you miss 2 or more pills consecutively, your birth control pills do decrease in effectiveness. (When taken consistently and correctly, they are 99% effective at preventing pregnancy). The exact percentage of decrease is impossible to factor, but if you continued to take your pills as directed (doubling-up on pills), and only had a one-time unprotected sexual encounter, the odds are not likely for pregnancy. It does not mean it can't happen, just that it's more likely that you are not pregnant.

You can take a home pregnancy test as soon as you miss your expected period; some tests advertise their accuracy as early as 5 days before your period, but they are not at their highest accuracy until the day you expect your period.
