Seemed to have started after long period standing barefoot.

Pain on the outside of the foot can be caused by a number of things. The pain may be on the inner side of the foot (medial foot pain) or on the outer side (lateral foot pain). Standing barefoot might have caused pressure from being in an awkward position too long. Below is a good resource about various causes of foot pain.
