Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I'd love to elaborate on the comments you read from the doctor.

When your become pregnant, your body starts producing hCG which is a hormone produced during pregnancy.  This hormone increases the longer your are pregnant.  The doctor's note meant that if you had become pregnant 5 days before it was still too soon to detect the hCG levels.

Pregnancy is more easily detected after your first missed or irregular period.

I hope this clarifies things for you.  Let us know if you have any more questions.

Hello,

The best time to take a pregnancy test is after your first missed or irregular period.  If the test is negative but you have another missed or irregular period for the second time in a row, you should see your doctor in order to find out what is causing the irregularities.
