Can I have a breast implant if I have a pace-maker and have had open-heart surgery back in 2009

I would like to be pleased with myself and breast lift/implant would do that. However, I'm not sure how to find the right surgeon.

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us for advice regarding your consideration of breast implants.

Whether or not you are a candidate for this type of surgery is a decision that can be reached following a conversation and evaluation with your internist, cardiologist and cosmetic surgeon.

Your physicians know your medical history and if there are any risks associated with anesthesia and the planned surgery.

You can ask your primary care physician for a referral, ask friends and family members, check with your health insurance provider or begin an internet search for plastic or cosmetic surgeons in your area. Be prepared to pay out of pocket for the cost of the surgery. Most insurance providers will cover reconstructive surgery, but not elective cosmetic procedures.

Regards,
Maryann
