Hi, Sonali,

Sexual intercourse is described as when the man's penis actually enters the woman's vagina. Is that what you describe as "sleeping with" ?

There are other forms of sexual activity that are not intercourse -- heavy petting, for instance, and/or stimulation of each other's genitals by mouth or hand. But it is considered intercourse when the penis actually enters the vagina. Does that help?

The one precaution you can take on your own, right now, is to buy condoms. You are good to think about taking responsibility for your own body, and condoms will help prevent an unwanted pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. They are not perfect, but they are very good if you use them correctly.

How old are you? Can you get to a doctor or to a clinic by yourself or with a friend?

how do you define "slept with" and how do you define "intercourse" - to me they mean the same thing. you can go to a local public health clinic to get birth control by making an appointment, but you usually have to take these 1 month before you start having vaginal intercourse without the use of condoms. different birth controls have different side effects so sometimes you'll have to experiment to see which ones work the best for you.
