Keep praying my mother I recovering from the she thing she is now doing every thing on her own like breathing talking and she eats very well she can't walk yet or move her hands but she is still here with us

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, but good to hear that she has opened her eyes. With my dad, he was responsive from the moment he woke up but he had no recollection of where he was or what happened. He had zero memory span....we could explain to him what happened and within 1-2 seconds he would ask again. He also did not have the ability to get out of bed or even sit up on his own, but he also had kidney and lung failure due to the CPR, and he was on dialysis for two months. I can tell you that it's very important to be your mom's advocate while she's in the hospital and fight for the care from the doctors that she deserves. Doctors are so quick to disregard brain injury patients because they say there's no hope, but there absolutely is. We have to be the voice our parents don't have while they're in the hospital. I spent the majority of 5 months away from my home to be by my dad's side, in another state, making sure he was properly cared for in the hospital, and even then he was constantly ignored by doctors. After the injury it was very difficult for my dad to talk and hold a conversation that was more than one or two word responses. It hasn't been until the past few weeks where he is really starting to project his voice and engage in semi-full conversations....more than a year after his injury. His memory loss is still pretty short term - sometimes he can retain information for only a moment, sometimes an hour or longer, but it's easier for him to remember activities vs. me telling him something. He's pretty good about remembering what year it is. When your mom becomes responsive, make sure she is getting speech and physical therapy regularly. It's so hard to know an outcome for an anoxic brain injury patient, but I believe that miracles happen and God heals. Sending prayers your way. -Julianna

Hi I’m not even sure how to begin. My brother Jimmy age 51 had SCA on 6/14/18. He was without oxygen for not sure how long. Neighbors did CPR until ambulance arrived. Was taken to hospital a half hour away. They did they cooling/rewarming treatment on him. He has been in CICU for 20 days now. Dr’s are so negative just want to pull the plug. His heart is strong, his CT shows some spots. Can’t do MRI yet due to neoro storming and needs to be completely still. They have had him on morphine and other drugs to control storms. How do we know if he’s going to wake up if they have him drugged up!!!!!! He also has a trach in and a feeding tube. Palliative Care Dr told my family yesterday to let them end treatment and let him pass. They’re saying is heart is severely damaged but the cardiologist says his heart is fine. Just don’t trust these dr’s. My family said absolutely not it’s too soon. Just need hope and support from others who have been through this. We have been praying so much for him to wake up.

Never give up. I Will pray for you right now. The doctors told me that my fiance was brain dead and wanted us to pull the plug. She woke from her coma a week later.The same doctors couldn't diagnose her. After 40 days in icu we were pushed out the hospital and into a rehab. She pushed out her feeding tube and we went to another hospital. 3 days later she was diagnosed with G.B.S. We are now in rehab and she is getting stronger eveyday. God gave us a second chance.

Hello Karen, I am so sorry that your loved one and family are experiencing this illness. I am the wife of a anoxic brain injury patient. I am here simply to encourage you to hold on as long as possible. The doctors had basically written my husband off, but God decided that they were wrong. My husband suffered brain injury on 04/11/2018 and today 07/28/2018 he is in intensive rehab and doing much better. In fact one of the original doctors on his case just happened to be working at the facility where is receiving rehab and was able to witness the miraculous works of God with her own two eyes. To keep this post a reasonable length, I simply say that if your brother is still holding on, I encourage the family to do so as well.

My 60 year old boyfriend had this happen on 1-4-18. Based on his doctor's report I would have let him go but his daughter was in charge and would not. He did not wake up immediately and had a trach and feeding tube. When he did wake up he would just stare at the ceiling. He went through physical therapy and 7 months later he can walk, talk, and has no trach. He has long term memory but does not have short term memory. He is living in a nursing home which should not be. Hopefully his family will find a facility for the brain injured which will work with him. Yesterday I took him out of the facility to the park. He did not remember the park but had an enjoyable time. There were months of little progress but now he is making some. His health is better and it is basically the brain. His personality is still there and he is still enjoyable to talk to. He will never work again and probably will not drive but God willing he is able to walk and talk and is still improving. He will never be the same so I am getting to know the new version of Michael.

My 62yo husband suffered sudden cardiac arrest at at home on 3/9/2018. I am trained in CPR and started compressions immediately. Called 911 and EMTs reached the house in 9minutes. His total lack of a heartbeat was 20minutes. He was shocked 3 times but had a flat EEG in ER. Nonetheless he was placed into therapeutic hypothermia, induced coma. After the therapy we were told he had severe encephalopathy due to anoxia. Not to expect him to improve and be in a vegetative state for the rest of his days.
April 27, 2018 - 1:30pmHe steadily improved and his EEGs went to mild encephalopathy after about 6 days. He woke up, recognized me and sons. At day 13 he had a heart cath with quad bypass surgery at day 15. He tolerated the procedure well, was discharged to a super rehab center and was discharged home after 33days total. He is weak, lost 38lbs has lost all memory of 6weeks-2months during this but is caring for himself, walking daily, doing picture puzzles and enjoying life. He has emotional swings but not major. His memory is completely back other than those 2 months, short term memory is excellent. He was cleared to drive by his cardiologist and neurologist. He’s back.
By and large God Blessed this man and there can be excellent outcomes from this tragedy.

My fiancé has been ill for 12 days now as I am replying to your message. He is being helped by the ventilator to breath, he is on dialysis. He is being fed food through his tube.
He has an asthma attack and I can't discuss all the details right now, it is under investigation.
The aftermath is that my fiancé is inn the hospital, they brought him back when they got pulse. That was great miracle for starters.
I am praying a lot and asking Mercy from God for my fiancé.
Science is one small thing compared to GOD. I am making plans for my fiancé to help him. He is helping himself by fighting to overcome the current situation he is in. He responds to treatment. We are praying for him to make movements (he had some before, he can do it again).
I need all of your prayers that God will be merciful and give my fiancé another chance in life. His name is Doug.

God Bless you and Doug. My wife suffered an asthma attack January 7th 2018. She went into cardiac arrest twice, the second time for 30 min. She was in a coma for 8 days. Doctors have given us no hope. I currently have her in Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment and she is responding well to it. She is still non verbal but she responds by blinking. Keep praying, our God is a healer.

My wife had a very severe asthma attack 04/16/2019. I barely made it to the firehouse to get her help but before I could get out the car she already jumped out. She started twitching and going into convulsions. I seen her take her last breathe and she wet herself. This while I was screaming and in full panic telling the firemen to please save my wife. They were able to get a pulse till the ambulance came and from what I was told she went int I cardiac arrest again in ambulance and was unresponsive when she got to the hospital. It took them 6 minutes to get a pulse and then she was intubated. She was in ICU for 3 days before god gave her back to me. After all this she had a lot of involuntary hand and feet movements and when she was released she couldn’t sleep. We had to go back to the ER were she was admitted for another week. Anoxic brain injury. Outpatient rehab and therapy twice a week 3 hours per day. Her long term memory is remarkable but her short term not so much. She is fully functional but something is still very off. She can’t drive. I have to supervise everything that she does. Thank god she is still with me and my two daughters. A long road to recovery but we are hoping she’ll be back
