Tubal ligation is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy, and is considered a long-term birth control (sterilization). We have heard from women who are in the 0.1% who had their tubes tied and later became pregnant; it is not likely, but there is a small chance/risk.
There are procedures to reverse tubal ligation, if you are interested.
