Club foot and bone fusion

I have a left club foot. Had casting for 10 years. Had achiles lengthening and plantar fascia twice at age 13 and 18. Didn't work. Had a failed radical osteotomy when I was 34 with 2 staples. I don't know why these orthoepoedic surgeons think that an osteotomy help. I am now 67 and ready to have a fusion of my left ankle in 2 months. I have met with about 20 different surgeons, all wanting to fuse my ankle
. But this doctor is willing to let me have a boot instead of a cast, and no bone graft. He is planning on moving my tibia and fibula forward. Any advice?

Hi, Anon.

Thank you for your post.

We actually have an ongoing thread about this very subject you might be interested in. You will find many comments, replies, and advice from members that have gone through the same type of surgery (or similar).

Hope this helps. Good luck with the surgery.
