Hi Ellie,

If the ultrasound women was having a hard time with measurements, it certainly could be incorrect and they may have a better idea on the next ultrasound. What she meant by 'measurements' is this: ultrasounds are a much more accurate tool in finding gestational age of babies then guessing from your last period. Reason being is they measure the length of the baby (or from the crown to the rump) to determine the age of the baby. This is much more feasible then counting from the missed period.

With an ultrasound, they can also measure the gestational sac which is a structure that develops in the uterus early in pregnancy, enclosing the developing baby and amniotic fluid. This is a pretty accurate gestational age determiner also.

I would wait until your next appointment if there was a problem with the measurements as stated by the Ultrasound woman. You may have a more accurate reading next time. Does this answer your question?
