On Oct 10,2009 I called a the pharmacist to ask about my orthro tri cycline lo pill I missed two dark blue actve pills on my third week and the pharmacist said to take two a pill to catch up. So on that saturday I took thursday and friday and then on sunday I took Saturday and sunday which was a dark blue and a green (non active pill) anyhow I didn't have sex for 7 days then I started a new pack of pills oct 18, 2009 and had sex twice probably thinking I should have been protected. Well my last period was early about 3 or 4 days (Oct 11, 2009 it started) and now i'm about 3 days late on my period is there a possibility that I could be pregnant??

Anon, I'm so happy for you!! I know what a huge relief it is. But just realize that you did everything right. We all have times when we forget something, but the way you reacted to it was perfect.

Take care, and thanks for updating!

yes I will get one tomorrow..but when reading the instructions on the pill it says to take one everyday until sunday and then start a new pack immediately..but that's not what I was told from the pharmacy...so now i'm thinking the chance of pregnancy is high..correct?

Anon, I still wouldn't say your risk was "high." You followed the recommended instructions for having missed a couple of pills, and so your protection should have been at normal levels. Especially since you waited seven days afterward to have sex.

Please come back and update us when you get your period or take your HPT. I am thinking you are just late, possibly due to stress over this. Take care, and do let us know.

Yes, if you waited 7 days to have sex (starting from the day you began doubling-up on your missed pills), then you should be adequately protected from pregnancy. Please know, there is always a chance of pregnancy when missing pills (nothing is 100%), and since you are late for your period, it would be a good idea to take a home pregnancy test just to rule out the possibility of pregnancy. Having a late period, after an early period, is fine, as your body may be "readjusting" to the fluctuation if hormones from your pills (your body went without synthetic hormones for two days in-a-row, then received two double-doses; this does not cause harm, but may change the date of your period slightly).

One other note: you took your pills correctly as far as doubling-up, but it is important to take that day's pill, and then double-up using one of the missed pills.

For example:
Thursday: missed pill
Friday: missed pill
Saturday: take Saturday's pill as usual, and double-up using Thursday's pill
Sunday: take Sunday's pill as usual, and double-up using Friday's pill
Monday: caught up on pills, back to one per day

Do you have access to a home pregnancy test (from a nearby drugstore or grocery store, they are about $12-$15).
