I usually get my period on the 1st of the month. i am very puntual with my period. On the 14 i had sex with my boyfriend and we use a condom and after we finish i checked the condom and everything look fine. After a week on the 21 i started a spott, dark brown spot with some cloth, and today 22nd i had some spotts too but it is noticeable when i wipe. Please help. If this can be a sign of pregnancy. I did wear a condom i don't understand. Help.. i need advice. what could this be.

Dear Anon,

Spotting with blood clots can simply be your oncoming period coming a bit earlier and the dark blood is most likely old blood. Unfortunately, although condoms are very effective they are not 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy.

I can say that when you get pregnant, bleeding in clots is NOT a symptom and if you are, chances are you are not pregnant. Many women actually never realize that they may have conceived because pregnancy is lost early through bleeding or clotting-- this doesnt mean there is anything wrong with you.

If you are still unsure about being pregnant, take a test the first week of March for peace of mind.

Best of luck.
