Could I be Pregnant?

Hello, I am 22 years old and I also have a 15 month old son. I have an irregular menstrual cycle and I am wondering if there is a possibility of pregnancy. I had my period on April 27 and got them on June 4th. I am unable to have any form of contraceptives due to a heart disease and smoking which previously caused the formation of blood clots in my lung at the age of 18. Condoms also causes irritation to both myself and my partner. We had unprotected intercourse on June 10th, 15th, and 17th. I did notice some semen in my vaginal opening upon completion. I have searched the internet and realized that my possible fertile days are on the 14th-18th of June. Since I have an irregular monthly cycle, could there still be a possibility of pregnancy. I do have a pregnancy test handy and I will take the test around July 1st or 2nd but I would like to know if my chances of pregnancy are high. I do have prenatal vitamins which I took today just in case I could be pregnant and I definitely don't drink any form of alcohol. I have a feeling that I am, it seems like I have bad abdominal cramping and I had horrible cramping with my first pregnancy. I do not have any spotting or tender breasts. I believe that it would be too early to have these symptoms. Please help me so I can mentally prepare myself for this again.

Thanks for your time

Thank you for your response. I will definitely look into other forms of birth control once I know if I am pregnant or not. I always wanted a second child. However, I recently graduated from dental hygiene and I haven't found work as of yet and I don't think I would have enough time on my busy schedule with a second child. Also, I would like to add that I would not regret having a second one. I love my son and everything does happen for a reason. I disagree with the timing and I am stressed. Im starting to feel pregnancy symptoms as of today. I can't say I am and I can't say im not. I love my coffee in the morning and coffee seems to make me gag now. I also have some bloating and constipation. Coffee made me sick with my first pregnancy but I did not have constipation. I had severe cramping and diarrhea. I guess I will have to wait and see. I will post updates...
Thanks again

Hello Anonymous

Any time you have unprotected sex you risk pregnancy. So the short answer is yes, you could be pregnant. There are days in your cycle where you are more likely to get pregnant, but really you can become pregnant at nearly any time if you have unprotected sex, particularly with an irregular cycle like yours.

If you do not want to get pregnant again, you do have other options such as an IUD. You may want to discuss this with your gynecologist. There are options other than hormones.

We get a lot of questions on this topic. Perhaps reading the discussion will help you: https://www.empowher.com/condition/menstrual-cycle.

Good luck to you.
