Q:

Could I be pregnant?

Hey everyone,

I had a period starting on the 29th or 1st of this month. Ended the 5th. Have been fairly sexually active from then till now. Been feeling slightly nauseous for a while (though that could be cause of a food sensitivity as well), about 2 days ago I started cramping, and yesterday I noticed a brownish colored discharge. Today I've been more nauseous, have a headache, and just not feeling right. I've been wearing tampons but there is just a slight discharge and hasn't soaked them or anything. My period isn't supposed to start for 2 more weeks or so - I've never had it come early, if anything, I've had it come later. Could I be pregnant or should I be looking at different possibilities?

Hi Kryptik,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. Have you been using any type of birth control? Do you still have the brownish discharge? How long has it been going on (days, hours, etc.)? Your menstrual cycle can change from time to time, and can be affected by sickness, diet, exercise, etc. If you are overly concerned, call your doctor and schedule an appointment to get checked out--you also can discuss your method of birth control at that appointment to make sure the one you're using is the right one for you.
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
