I took plan b after unprotected sex with my husband 2 1/2 weeks ago, exaclty on my most fertile day (didnt realize that until later). Had possibly breakthrough bleeding one week after that, one week before my expected period. Now I'm 5 days late of my scheduled period and have been having minor cramping (which i rarely if ever get regularly) and slight nausea. Whenever I did have any cramping before AF it only lasted one day tops! Any imput as to what could be causeing the cramping?

If you don't want to become pregnant then you must start using birth control regularly. An emergency contraceptive cannot and should not be used as birth control.
There was need to take Plan B because you were not at risk for becoming pregnant since you finished your period a day or two prior that having intercourse.
You upset the hormonal balance that regulates your menstrual cycle. That is why you had vaginal bleeding. It may take the month for your levels to return to normal.
Please if you are sexually active during this month, have your partner use a condom. I cannot tell you when you will expect your next period. It could be on time or start earlier or later than expected. That is why it is important to use protection until your next period starts.

He was wearing a condom but it ripped. But I actually was just prescribed birth control pills that I'm starting on Sunday. Thank you so much, this helped immensely :)

Me and my boyfriend were having sex with a condom. When he pulled out at one point it almost looked as if the condom broke. It was very full an very white at the tip. (We do squeeze the tip before we strart.) After sex I went an filled the condom up with water but nothing dripped out but I still got plan B one step to be safe. My period ended on the 16th and this happened the day after (on the 17th) About 6:30 - 8:00 in the morning. I got an took the pill at 4pm. So within the first 12 hours. I was rather bloated the day after taking it like I would be if I was on my period. Today about 2 or 3 oclock I was having very light pink bleeding nothing that really stays on the pad but when I wipe it is there. I know that spotting is rather normal. But I am still nervous would this be a breakthrough bleed does this mean the pill was effective. My futility window was to be the 17th though the 23rd. Today being the ovulation day so did I get it just in time?

The spotting was caused by taking Plan B. There was no need to take it because you had just finished your period the day before. You would not be in your "fertile window" on July 17.
A woman's fertile window is five days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. These six days are the ‘fertile window’ in a woman’s cycle, and reflect the lifespan of sperm (5 days) and the lifespan of the ovum (24 hours).
Ovulation can be calculated by starting with the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP) or by calculating 12-16 days from the next expected period. Most women ovulate anywhere between Day 11 – Day 21 of their cycle, counting from the first day of the LMP.
Emergency contraceptives prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation. Your next period might start later than expected.

I had sex with my boyfriend the day after my period(which was the 27). I started bleeding like a week and a half -2 weeks later for about 3-4 days. It felt like my period. Then, about on the 17th I'm occurring spotting... Since I've already bled could this just be my period, signs of pregnancy, or side effect of plan b still?

I am going off a phone app that I track my period on for my window. Right now I have been having pretty normal bleeding for about two days . So I'm gonna guess I might have this as my period an them I will have my next period as you said a bit late.

Question : after taking plan b 2 weeks ago, I got my period the following week as expected. However I've been bleeding 9 days now on and off. Not spotting. And just developed abdominal cramping today after 9 days of normal or no bleeding. Mind you, I usually am only 5-7 days long and never cramping... is this normal?

This does not sound normal to me. Changes to the menstrual cycle are a reported side effect of Plan B. This usually presents as an earlier or later start and flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.
I am concerned about the development of abdominal cramping and nine days of intermittent bleeding. Please call your gynecologist today.

June 21, 2015 - 4:24pmI had sex with my boyfriend on the 30th of May, having my period ended on the Thursday prior to that Saturday. during sex his condom broke and we stopped intercourse right there. The condom was a spermicidal one. The next day, roughly 18 hours after almost sex I took plan b one step. We decided it was best that I took this just in case. I had cramping immediately afterwards and after 2 and a half weeks, got my period. At first it was a lot of brown discharge and then towards the end of the days, it was regular bleeding. Now that it has been about a week since I'm getting cramping pains again. Does this mean that the pill did not work or is this merely a side effect? Please help. - from clueless in wv.

Since you had just finished your period two days prior to intercourse, it was too early for ovulation and therefore, no risk for pregnancy even though the condom broke.
Plan B was effective because you had vaginal bleeding.
Do you normally have premenstrual cramps? If so, that is what the cramping might be.
Some women will start their next period earlier or later than expected. This is a side effect of Plan B.
If the cramping persists, worsens and doesn't feel like premenstrual cramps, please contact your physician.
