Delayed Period.

Hi! So I haven't had my period since March 10 (starting day). Today is May 14. I took two pregnancy tests and both are negative. What could be causing the delay?

I am also experiencing a lot of lotion-like CM and may potentially have cysts on my ovaries.

Hello DreamHigh,

Amenorrhea is the medical term for the absence of one or more periods. Secondary amenorrhea is the most common type. It is when you've been having normal periods and they suddenly stop. It is not diagnosed until you have missed three periods.

Other reasons for a missed period, other than pregnancy, include stress and anxiety. Stress can delay ovulation. When you do not ovulate on time, your menstrual cycle is thrown off balance.

Excessive weight gain or weight loss can delay the start of your period. Rigorous exercise, polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothyroidism and uterine scarring, which can be the result of a cesarean section or D & C procedure, can cause a missed period.

Depending on your age, young women who have recently begun to menstruate, and perimenopausal women experience an occasional missed period.
