Digestive Issues

So for the past two and a half weeks I have been on vacation and experienced a lot of discomfort with digestion. I first started having blood in my stool and then it progressed to blood and what looked like mucus and diarrhea. I had no problems at first but then I started experiencing a lot of abdominal discomfort and had to go to the bathroom about every 20 minutes. It was kind of uncontrollable and a bit embarrassing. I went on a fast and since then have only been eating fruits and vegetables until I feel better.

I went on a dairy and gluten free diet before my vacation and stopped before I left. Could the discomfort I have been experiencing be a result of my diet change?
(And also, I'm 18)

Hi trinity17,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  It's possible the symptoms can be due to the changes in your diet.  But if the blood in the stool continues, it's important to see your doctor about this. Some of the causes for blood in stool can be, Diverticular disease, Anal fissure, Colitis, polyps, cancer and many other conditions.

Best,

Daisy
