Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Glucocorticoids such as prednisone are known to increase the white blood cell (WBC) count upon their initiation. The increase in WBC count is primarily contributed from neutrophils.

Normal value for total WBC and differential in adult males and females is 4,500 to 10,000.

I don't know if an increase to 20,000 within six days is to be expected with taking Prednisone. Do check with your physician.

Regards,
Maryann
