My foot was ran over by a 4 ton fork truck and I went to hospital and got it x rayed there were no broken bones. however my foot is swollen like a balloon and the pain is incredible, I've had pain killers and it's done nothing and I can't sleep due to the extreme pain. My main problem is that I cannot walk or put any weight on it at all and I was wondering what I should do as I need to be able to move around my house, please help.

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am so sorry to hear about your injury. Thankfully, there were no broken bones.

What was the extent of your injury? I am guessing with that amount of swelling and the weight of the forklift, there was serious muscle and tissue damage.

Are you keeping your foot elevated? Are you using a crutch or cane to keep weight off the affected foot? Have you been advised to apply an ice pack?

Anonymous, contact your primary care physician, who should be aware of the extent of your injury. Report that you have not gotten any relief from the pain killers.

Regards,
Maryann

Thank you, and I have elevated my foot and applied am ice pack as told so, but it's made no difference in the physical apperance of my foot and the pain is becoming worse. My foot aches, stops aching, begins to tingle, goes numb, throbs and starts to hurt more (not in order). Also it feels extremely heavy. There is bruising and swelling all over my foot including top, sides and bottom(sole) of my foot. And I don't not have any aid for walking e.g crutches. Thank you
