Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

I won't make any "it's a pain in the butt" jokes.

Yes, this is normal. Some people who have had your surgery have buttock pain. Reasons include one's gait before surgery (one side compensating for the other) or the rest needed after the surgery and the position of the body during this time. You may be dealing with a sore piriformis muscle that is located in the buttocks. You also may have sciatica - that is something to consider.

There are exercises that can be done but due to still recovering from your surgery it would not be wise to suggest any.
Are you doing physical therapy? If so, definitely mention your pain so that further exercises can be done. It can really help.

We can't say when this pain will end - consider talking to your doctor for further advice. I hope you feel better soon.
Best,
Susan
