After being pulled from the soccer field, my 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis in May of 2011 by a renowned specialist. We received a tip about gluten shortly after beginning a terrible regiment of steroids. We fought with the specialists to explore the connection. They would not budge. We stepped down the steroids and removed all gluten from her diet. She was treated by a gastro-intestinal doctor for a couple of months. Her symptoms went into complete remission and have remained that way to this day. All visible signs are gone. She is healthier than ever and recently completed a triathlon in August.

Well..I did find an article regarding some case studies with dermatomyositis and celiac disease: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2659927/
There have been a link found in children, but not in adults (just a few reported cases in adults).
Do you need any additional information, or does this one article meet your needs?

I have not found any links in the medical literature regarding gluten being associated with dermatomyositis.
There is so much that is unknown about autoimmune disorders. Can you tell us more about why you are making this link? Have you been diagnosed with dermatomyositis?
