Help! Tons of bug bites on my leg! What should I do!?

I was outside for maybe 5-10 minutes the other day while getting gas on my way to the gym (I was wearing shorts) got back in my car and felt itching on my leg. Once I finally got into the light I saw a TON.. Like 10-15 bug bites on my leg!

They are itching like CRAZY! I can hardly sleep and when I do I wake up with them burning. I have taken allergy medicine but only at night since it makes me drowsy. What other alternatives are there out there I could use throughout the day?

I have purchased anti-itch cream and spray but any other remedies? These seem to only last for about 20 minutes then I feel them begin to itch again.

Also, went to my local pharmacist and she mentioned to me she thought it was a spider bite instead of mosquito bite that I originally thought. Should I be concerned?

Hi saradietz and thanks for your question.

Wow - 10-15 bites on your leg? That sounds scary and painful. It also seems highly unlikely that you would encounter that many spiders at one time, so the bites are more likely to be from mosquitoes. You may want to do some detective work through a search for images of bug bites to find images that look like yours and be sure.

There are a number of natural remedies that you can try to get relief from the itching. Please see this article written for the EmpowHER community, Home Remedies for Bug Bite Relief. And, would you help other women by letting us know what you try and how it works?
