Hot flashes are a common symptom of menopause but they are not exclusive to menopausal issues The feeling of intense heat, sweating, (and also a rapid heartbeat) can signal other conditions, such as problems with the thyroid. This might be a one-time occurrence. But if it continues, it's a good idea to see your doctor, especially if are you are not getting rest because of it.
