Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! There are several sign that can point to a possible mold problem in your home:

  • Increased allergies. Suffering from allergies that are difficult to control. If you notice yourself experiencing more severe allergies while at home, this is a sign that there may be mold in your home.
  • Smells and odors of mold around your home
  • Visible mold growth in your home. Even when you see small signs of mold that may look like dirt or darkened patches on your walls, it is important to take care of them right away. Small mold growth can eventually grow into larger mold problems.
  • Water problems in your home like moisture, bubbling or cracking on your walls or wallpaper, condensation
  • Water leaks

What sort of problems has your home been experiencing that you think may be a possible mold problem?

The Environmental Protection Agency deals with mold a lot and can be a great resource. Here is a list of contact numbers if you would like to talk directly with someone there: http://www.epa.gov/mold/contactus.html.

Please keep us updated on your possible mold problem and let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
