Dear Anon,

Congratulations on your baby boy!

When to resume sex is entirely different for every woman. Most OB/GYN's will recommend that your wife waits until her 6 week check-up (regardless of vaginal or cesarean section) to give her the green light. However, if your wife had a vaginal delivery and did not tear, she will heal much faster than a woman with a 4th degree tear or episiotomy.

It is important to remember that all women heal differently and some will feel much more comfortable having sex after 4 weeks and some can take up to months to feel free of pain. Just be supportive and soon enough you and your wife will be able to resume your normal sex life.
