A hypothetical question about missing a pill..

This is question is based if you are taking the Tri Othro Cyclen Lo pill.

Say that you miss a single pill during the last week of the active pills. How much will that impact affect your protection, as long as you took the rest of the pills correctly and perfectly? (This is based that you didn't make it up) And it will only impact that month (Since you are about to start a new pack after the placebos)?

(I'm only asking about the pill's effectiveness and causes. Backup protection is always used regardless)

Thanks!

Hi, Anon,

Missing a pill in the last week of the active pills is, at least, less of a risk than earlier in your cycle, when you are most likely to ovulate if you miss a pill. There is still a risk, but less of one. When you miss a pill and don't make it up, the body simply doesn't get that day's dose of hormones; the risk is that it will kick in with its own and ovulate.

The fact that you always use backup protection is awesome. Good for you!
