Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
Since you are well out of menopause, you will not have the menopausal side effects that a pre-menopausal woman would have if she had her ovaries removed, like night sweats, insomnia, fatigue etc - all the side effects that can happen during menopause.
But there are some concerns about ovary removal in older age - one is with mental decline and problems with memory.
Your cyst is very large. Is it possible to remove it without also taking the ovary? If the ovary has to come out (and it may, based on the size of the cyst) ask your doctor about your other ovary remaining. That can make a big difference in the outcome. The general consensus among women is to hang onto your ovaries as long as possible and only have them removed when absolutely necessary.
