Hello Anonymous,

That can be tricky since you do not have a period every month. I am guessing you would not get a period in April. I am wondering if you ovulate every month?

My suggestion is to wait until the end of April or beginning of May to test. Consider consulting your gynecologist.

Maryann

Hi! I had sex for the first time last march 25 and i started bleeding for 3 days since then. I was supposed to have my period April 7 so i thought the bleeding was due to my hymen breaking. But now (april 9) I still haven't had my period and I've been having cramps on my lower right abdomen. I have also been excreting white mens. Is this normal and could my bleeding for 3 days after my first sex be my menstruation already? That it arrived earlier than usual? OR could I be pregnant??? Thanks a lot.

Hello Anonymous,

I do not think you are pregnant because you had vaginal bleeding.

Wait and see what happens. The bleeding following intercourse could have been your monthly period. Bleeding following the rupture of the hymen is light or spotting, not at all like a menstrual flow.

Maryann

Thanks!! But it's still worrying me because I'm experiencing cramps right now. Should I go for home pregnancy tests? If yes, when can I start taking tests?

Hi Anonymous,

Like I said before, wait and see what happens. If you are having cramps, and you usually have cramping before your period, maybe it is will start soon. No need to take a pregnancy test yet.

Normally, you would test once your period is late by at least seven days. But, you had some bleeding after intercourse, that is why I do not think you are pregnant.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

There is a risk for pregnancy when you have unprotected intercourse. Even though you say your boyfriend ejaculated on a tissue, you cannot be certain some semen did not leak into your vagina before he withdrew.

The sure way to know whether or not you are pregnant is to take a home pregnancy test.

Maryann
