Balln31,
I agree with Alison. Usually, when your doctor prescribed your pills he will tell you to use a backup form of birth control for the first 2 weeks. If you are not sure whether or not you needed backup, call your doctor's office and double check or you can use a backup method for the next week then resume on just the pills alone.

What type of pill are you using? It will say in your patient information pamphlet how long you need to use backup protection when you first start taking the pill.
Most pills say that you will need to use backup protection for the first 7 days that you begin taking the pill, so you may not have been protected at its best 99% effectiveness rate.
If you had sex less than 120 hours before you are reading this, you have the option of using emergency contraception..let me know if you would like more information about this.
