I have ischemic colitis and the only info is on ulcerative colitis. Where can I find info on Ischemic colitis and a diet or medication for it???

I have been told I have Ischemic colitis and no doctors have been able to tell me what medication to take other then Imodium. I would also like to know what foods I should avod

Thank you for writing today.

For the benefit of our readers, ischemic colitis occurs when blood flow to part of the large intestine (colon) is reduced, usually due to narrowed or blocked blood vessels (arteries). The diminished blood flow doesn't provide enough oxygen for the cells in your digestive system. A liquid diet is recommended, initially, to allow the colon to rest as it heals. Generally, no specific diet is recommended after healing, beyond maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, including not smoking.
