Hi Anonymous

We have a page on vision problems with some discussion of Lasik: https://www.empowher.com/condition/nearsightedness

Your question is interesting, and I did find a study abstract from PubMed that might reassure you: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16722491

I think the most important thing will be to discuss this thoroughly with your surgeon, ask if he/she has done this on any other patients with keloids, if he/she has read about it, etc. If you get a blank look, you might find a different surgeon to discuss this with. The best surgeon is nearly always the one who has done the most of whatever procedure you are having. That is the surgeon who has seen odd little complications, etc., and worked it out. So keep that in mind while you are deciding what to do.

If we can be of further help, please let us know. Good luck to you.
