Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about a late period.
Beside intercourse the day before your period was due to start, have you and your husband had unprotected intercourse at other times since your last period?
If so, pregnancy is possibly the reason your period is late. Wait another four days, if no period, take a pregnancy test. Or you could take an early response test now. But, test in the morning and use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.
Other causes of a late period could be hormonal changes associated with perimenopause. Some women start seeing changes in their menstrual cycle as early as their late 40s.
High stress levels, a major weight gain or weight loss, and increased level of physical activity or exercise can cause your period to be late.
