Q:

I missed period for last 6 days. Today I checked my beta hCG level. It indicates less than 1.2 mIU/mL, is that negative or positive result?

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your question regarding beta hCG levels.

There are two common types of hCG tests.

A qualitative hCG test detects if hCG is present in the blood.

A quantitative hCG test (or beta hCG) measures the amount of hCG actually present in the blood.

An hCG level of less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25mIU/ml is considered positive for pregnancy.

Anonymous, if you miss your period this month, the test may need to be repeated.

Regards,
Maryann
