Anyone?
After I took the last pill in my birth control pack, I found out my birth control price had been raised so i didnt get it immediately, a day went by so i started my new pack a day late and have taken it everyday since. It's been 4 days of taking my pills and I had sex today, should i be worried about pregnancy or should i be protected from the 4 days of taking the pill?

Hi Kcux19,
Unfortunately, the real answer to your question is perhaps. There is always a possibility of pregnancy even on birth control as well as with the pull out method and so forth. You risk pregnancy every time you have sex.

You will certainly have to play the wait game. Wait until you miss a period and then take a pregnancy test. The abdominal pain could be many things including stress that is causing it. If you are in pain, you should seek assistance from a physician immediately.

I wish I could be your magic wand but unfortunately, there is no perfect answer to your question besides wait. Can you keep us posted?
Good luck,
Missie

HI, I have been on birth control since August 2009 and I'm pretty good at taking it regulary but sometimes I miss a few but take them doubled. Just recently me and my boyfriend wanted to stop using condoms and have un protected sex but we have been using the pull out method so no semen has truely entered me. The first day we had unprotected sex I usually take my pills at night but I had forgotten the night before so took it right as I woke up then later on that day we had unprotected sex and since then I have been having some weird abdomonal pain and sometimes seems like cramps. Then last night I was not home to take my pill and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex again but used the pull out method as well and when i got home like 3 hours later I took the pill. But I am still experiencing the abdominal pain and am not sure why I am having that pain because it only started after the first time having unprotected sex. So my question is do you think I could be pregnant and if not what would be causing these abdominal pains? Thank you, I'd appreciate any answers I could get!

Hi I hope this doesn't sound too confusing..
The facts
-I have been on different pills since I was 13 I am now 24
-Reason up until resently was to lessen my period due to ovarian systic syndrome.
-I am on Ocella now
-On the thrid week I missed 3 to four pills
-Missed one and then couldn't hold some down later when tried to double up etc.
-Had light spotting (brownish) beginning the last day of my active pills and persisting till day 3
-Started light bleeding (And my bleeding has never ever been light even on the pill)
-Had one day of what I might call a normal persons period. Maybe.
-All through this had mild cramps but more nasua then cramps. NORMALLY have very heavy cramping. Even when I have missed one pill before.
-Now I am over my withdrawl bleeding or whatnot and seeing a bit of brown in thicker cervical mucus.
-Last day of unprotected sex Jan 9th
-Missed pills 9th-12th (depending if I kept any down I know I missed at least 3)
-Still feel fatique like I'm having a period (could just be stress)
-Should I be worried since I had a "period" or was that just because I was off the pills and I should worry due to well.. everything?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and would appriciate any help you can give.

I'm not clear what dates you had your "period", but it sounds like you had just one day and are now spotting, so I'm assuming this has been since the last few days.

You are worried because you had sex (without condoms) on January 9th, and it sounds like you've missed many pills...again, not sure when those dates are.

Here is the information you need to know:
- If you missed pills, then you need to wait at least 7 days after the last missed pill before having sex-without-condoms. In other words: you need to have at least 7 consecutive days of pills in your system before having sex. If you choose to have sex, just use a condom.

It is unclear if the bleeding you experienced was from having missed previous pills, or if you were bleeding during the week of inactive pills.

Again, the important information is missing:
- You missed 3-4 pills during 3rd week. What were these dates?
- You experienced spotting, one day of bleeding. What dates?
- You had unprotected sex on January 9th

Sorry for not being clear enough,

Hope this helps.

Pills missed were on the 9th (tried to double up on 10th contracted a virus could not hold down any medication for) 10th, 11th, possibly 12th. I am also a type one diabetic which could explain the harshness of the virus.

Those were the last of my active pills. Spotting started approxamately the 14th, 15th, 16th bled but not much compared to normal bleeding. 17th and 18th onward slight spotting to the point of barely visable and brownish color in cervical mucus when I wipe.

thank you for your fast reply.

Are you saying the pills you missed (on dates 9-12) were your inactive pills? If so..that's great because they are inactive, meaning they contain no hormones. It does not matter if you do not take these pills, as they are more "place holders" so you know when to start your new pack, and keeps you in the habit of taking pills daily.

I hope you are feeling better from your virus...sounds like it was a tough one!

My main concern I believe is that I missed so many pills after unprotected sex.
And though I bled.. kinda on time... it wasn't normal at all.. not in the least bit normal..
And now bleeding has stopped I still feel fatigue etc like I'm having my period.
If I were pregnant would I have still bled from the inactive pills?

Since you bled right after missing the pills, the bleeding may have been from the absence of pills. It actually takes 10-14 days to become pregnant after unprotected sex (counting from the day you ovulated to the fertilized egg traveling from your fallopian tubes to your uterus, where it implants). This is why you could bleed immediately or a few days after, and the fertilized egg has not implanted yet.

When women are on the pill, they do not ovulate. When pills are missed, your body "gears up" with its own hormones to "take over" and this could result in ovulation. The likelihood of this one-time unprotected sex leading to pregnancy after taking the pills continuously for the three prior weeks is not high. In fact, a woman's chance of pregnancy when she is not using birth control and actively trying to conceive is only 20% each cycle. So, the odds are high in your favor on this one-time occurrence not leading to a pregnancy.

Sorry to not be able to help any further...I know you would like more reassurance than this, and it will feel like an extra long month until your next "period" begins.

I think you misunderstood.. the pills I missed were right before my inactive ones. meaning on the 3rd week..

I realized my mistake of the whole unprotected sex and to make it worse missed pill and tried to double them but no luck.

So sex on 9th and active pills missed 9-12
