Q:

I'm 47, I need to know if it's worth it to go through a second laparoscopy to remove my left fallopian tube and (possibly) ovary (first 'lap' was to remove pelvic adhesions).

I'm more, concerned about risks involved with surgery than anything else, but, if I don't have the surgery, I'm still going to have chronic left-sided pain. I cannot have children anyway, because of a septate uterus, age, etc.... Can anyone offer some me advice, encouragement?

I also realized that you did not mention why you are having this surgery. What have you been diagnosed with (what is the reason for the pain)?

Hi VeresT,
If you have talked with your physician about the pros/cons of treatment, and surgery is the best option for you (after trying all other treatments) to relieve your symptoms...can you tell us specifically what you are concerned about regarding surgery?

It sounds like you have already had this exact procedure done before, and you are still nervous about "risks with surgery". Was your recover from your previous surgery successful? Do you feel that you have a good doctor whom you trust? The best advice I can give you: be well-educated on all of the pros/cons, what to expect after recovery, and what you need to know about risks involved. Are you wondering about possible side effects after surgery (will both of your ovaries be removed?)
