Irregular menstruation for about 12months or an STD infection?

My Name is Yvonne, 27years, Married & trying to get pregnant; i have a problem with irregular menstruation for about 12months now & some how i feel it has finally stopped because i haven't seen it for 4 months.
I have done a scan & HSG, all looking ok, I haven't done any hormonal profile investigation yet and can't go for a folliculometry because am not menstruating. Spoke with a friend studying medicine and he says it could be an infection affecting the reproductive organ that has built resistance to antibiotics; he insisted that i stop taking any antibiotics and go for an STD test, that was after he had asked some questions. i have had an infection before but was treated with medications prescribed by my doctor, now am having regular cramping & pain in my lower abdomen, high temperature, no sexual urge, no itching, discharge & odour, what do i do? i really would like to solves one problem at a time.

Thank you.

Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. We are not doctors here, so we cannot diagnose you. It sounds like your friend may be on to something though. With your symptoms, I would definitely get in to see a doctor and explain what's going on. If you think you may have been exposed to an STD/STI, you may want to get that taken care of, or at least figure out the root cause of problems before continuing with any kind of fertility testing or procedures.
Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
