Is it possible I am pregnant?

Hi,
I am 44 years old, I have had many off menstrual periods previously. Lately they have been regular, but my last menstrual cycle was May 2, 2017 and to-date I still have not received my period. I took a pregnancy test earlier this month and it was negative. My breast nipples are sore, I have this cramp-like feeling, and if I wait to long to eat I feel really nauseous and sick to my stomach, my my lower stomach, right at the pelvis feels different when leaning forward and/or bending over.

I do live-in home care work as a CNA and missed my last doctor's appointment. It will be a week or more before I can get scheduled. I am no stranger to miscarriages so I feel extremely worried, or sm I over reacting.

Hello Molly44,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community.

Pregnancy is possible if you have been having unprotected intercourse since your last period. You could repeat the test. For the most accurate result, test in the morning and use the first urine when you wake up.

You mention that your periods have been irregular, but have become more regular lately.

There is a possibility that you may be in early perimenopause, when hormones begin to rise and fall irregularly. The first sign is a change in the menstrual cycle.

Regards,
Maryann
