Q:

Lumps/knots? On leg.

Ever since I was around the age of 10 I have had some kind of lump on the outside of each leg, about 5 inches above each ankle. They never hurt, and are colorless. They are not noticeable until i stand on my legs. I have always thought that they were cysts, but someone recently told me that they weren't. Do you have any clue what they may be?

Hi Anon - What you're describing sounds like cysts which are noncancerous, closed pockets of tissue that can be filled with fluid, pus, or other material. There are other conditions though that can cause lumps and bumps. Please review the following article from WebMD and let us know if any of the lumps described in the article seem to be what you're dealing with.
Take care, Pat

I looked at the article. It doesn't move like a cyst would. They've never been a bother to me. Is it possible that it may be a tumor?

It's hard to know what it is without seeing it. A lot of people have harmless lumps all their lives. If this really bothers you it may be worth going to your doctor, but if you're not having any problems then you could ask about it during your next scheduled visit. If, however, you notice changes - pain, coloration, movement, etc, - then, yes, get it checked out right away. Does that help?
