Lymph nodes

I just had a really bad cold and I had a lymph node in my neck swollen just a little. I've been paranoid about it and I know there are lymph nodes in the groin area so I felt around and when I mash on them I can feel little pea sized balls! I don't have a clue if its a lymph node or not and I didn't know if I should be concerned! It's not popping out of my skin or anything it's just there and I don't know if it always has been or it's recently popped up! I'm 17 and only 98 pounds so I don't know if that has anything to do with it!

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. The lymph nodes in the groin (femoral or inguinal lymph nodes) may swell from an injury or infection in the foot, leg, groin, or genitals.

The glands on either side of the neck, under the jaw, or behind the ears commonly swell when you have a cold or sore throat. Glands can also swell following an injury, such as a cut or bite, near the gland or when a tumor or infection occurs in the mouth, head, or neck.  Also, the thinner the person, the easier they are felt.  The more you touch a swollen lymph nodes, the worst it can get.  If you fell concerned, it's best to see a doctor.

Best,

Daisy
