So I am 16, and I feel like I'm on my period but there isn't any blood, and my stomach has been killing me lately. About a month ago my boyfriend and I had sex for the first time but he pulled out before he came at all and so I'm positive I'm not pregnant, I'm just really worried, can anyone help me?

Hi Gummy19,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

It sounds like you are experiencing PMS (Premenstrual Syndrom) symptoms.  The absence of blood could be a number of things like;

  • Pregnancy
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Anxiety, or Physical/Mental stress
  • Inappropriate diet or rigorous exercise
  • Chronic illness
  • PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

Experiencing PMS symptoms and no period is usually not anything serious.  It could be something as simple as a temporary delay or interruption due to hormone changes.

However, since you indicated having sex for the first time with your boyfriend recently and he used the withdrawal method, you could potentially be pregnant if it was not done correctly.  Even with that, pregnancy can still happen because potentially, one reason being, if a man doesn't urinate in between ejaculating activity, traces of sperm could be in his urethra and travel with his pre-ejaculate.

There is a chance that your menstrual cycle is just delayed, so wait a couple of days and see what happens.

In the meantime, if that is your birth control method of choice, know that it is risky.  Here is some additional information to better prepare yourself:

Withdrawal (Pull Out Method)

I hope this helps,

Be well,

Thank you so much this makes me feel a lot less paranoid and we used protection and made sure there wasn't a tear or rip in the condom and he pulled out so I'm pretty sure pregancy is out of the question. You've been such a great help to me. Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
