Hi, I wanted to both let you know something about all these things I have asked you in all this time regarding underarm and breast pain. I want to say that I'm really glad I know about this website, if I didn't know such place I really don't know where I would have gotten all these useful information from. I will always come here for always. For this matter yesterday I saw my doctor the oncologist about this problem I've been experiencing in all this time and when I saw my doctor we both finally understood the whole problem and the problem was all shown because the past few days I haven't been feeling good from all this at all. He told me it is mostly either from to much shaving or it's causing it from the lymph nodes.

My underarm has been red, deep sharp and stabbing pain, really irritated and burning. It's causing me all this pain there and my breasts. In all this time that I've been suffering like this from such thing it's causing infection and in this situation only antibiotics has helped me. It's been like 10 times that I've been feeling like this.
After my doctor told me everything and what should be done I felt so relieved from inside. My mind is clear from worry but not 100 percent because I'm going to have the tests as he told me to such as blood test, CT, MRI and ultrasound. I'm worried about the results that's why my mind doesn't feel 100 percent.

So far I'm in good hands of doctors and in process of taking care of this matter. The point in this matter is why only antibiotics helps me in this matter so I'm waiting to know. When I came home yesterday I was crying all night from joy and mostly because I'm still in pain but he gave me prescription antibiotics which I'm starting to feel better. So I'm waiting for everything and see how it goes and I'm really hoping nothing serious but know what's causing the problem.

Through this website I have got many useful information I didn't know about and wanted to be sure about and I'm so very glad that I did. Thank you both so very, very much in everyway about such situation.

Thank You again,
Melissa

One thing I'm wondering I forgot to ask which is, is it possible for infection to dry up in the chest and cause some kinds of problem because it's been more than a week I still don't feel good and I feel like infection is dried up in my chest which still haven't had appetite in all this time. Let me know what you think of this.

Thanks,
Melissa

Thanks for your reply. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow and Thursday are my tests. I really hope everything goes well and nothing serious of course and know what's the cause of the problem. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
If you are not feeling well, especially have a weird sensation in your chest, please call your doctor. It is important that you talk with your doctor. Do not be afraid of having a CT scan or an ultrasound. These are both painless diagnostic tests. A CT scan combines a series of X-ray views taken from many different angles to produce cross-sectional images of the bones and soft tissues inside your body. It will give your doctor a very good view of your breasts and underarm area as well.
Best of luck,
Maryann

Thanks for your reply. My doctor gave me 100 mg of antibiotics and I still am in pain and it's been about a week that I haven't had any appetite for anything. I keep feeling the prescription is to strong for me because I feel weird in my chest. I want to call my doctor on Monday and let him know about this but today which was Friday I called in and I spoke to the secretary few times and I have a feeling she hates it and I'm afraid to call in Monday.

My doctor did say it can be from to much shaving or be from lymph nodes because he told me my under arm looks red, irritated, painful when he touched it and burning. He said looks infected.

Next week I'm having CT and breast ultrasound done and I keep wondering does CT show under arms?

My doctor told me I have fibrocystic breasts and that they are very tender and I feel something in my left breast and since it's tender I heard sonogram doesn't always show it because of being tender. I keep wondering how it's going to be and I'm so scared of all these tests. I just hope it all goes well and show what's the problem as long as hopefully it be nothing serious.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Two things can cause the bacterial infection to reoccur. One is not taking the antibiotic for the entire prescribed period of time. Second is shaving too much, irritating the skin and exposing this area to bacteria.
Hope this explains it,
Maryann

Thanks for your reply. I understand it now from what you described. One thing I don't get it quite which is if antibiotics kill bacteria and die and stops from reproducing, what I'm wondering from this point is I've been experiencing this problem more than once so it's reproducing it again, you know what I mean I find this part confusing. Can you explain this part?

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Antibiotics work to kill bacteria. Bacteria are single-cell organisms. If bacteria make it past our immune systems and start reproducing inside our bodies, they cause an infection or diseases. All cells reproduce. An antibiotic is a selective poison. It has been chosen so that it will kill the desired bacteria, but not the cells in your body. Each different type of antibiotic affects different bacteria. Antibiotics cause bacteria to die instead of reproducing. Hope this explains things for you.

Thanks for your reply. Since you mentioned reproducing from bacteria what do you think keeps reproducing because in all this time I've been suffering like this the problem keeps coming back and only antibiotics has helped me in this situation?

Since you mentioned "try to think positive thoughts, because you're in good hands" I wanted to say that you just made me cry because I've been thinking the same thing ever since I saw my doctor on Tuesday.

Well again thanks for your help and reply. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad to know that I was able to help you in even the smallest way. Antibiotics are powerful medications that fight bacterial infections. They either kill the bacteria or keep them from reproducing. It will take a couple of days before you begin to feel better. Most importantly, take the antibiotics as prescribe. I can understand your anxiety about the upcoming scheduled tests. They are necessary to determine what is the cause of your condition. Once the results are in, you and your doctor will have the long awaited answers. Try to think positive thoughts, because you are in good hands.
All the best,
Maryann
