The Morning After Pill (Plan b)

I took the morning after pill on Friday the 17th of this month. I experienced light spotting for two-three days. I was fine ever since and had not experienced anything up until yesterday which was the 10th day after taking the pill when I bled a lot of brown clotted blood. Today, the same thing occurred but along with the brown clots came some red blood too. I'm really worried because I read online about implantation bleeding and i really hope that's not the case because I'm not in the position to be pregnant. Someone please help! !

Hello rae24xoxo

Thank you for writing.

You made a good decision to take Plan B but I know you know that the best decision is to never have unprotected sex if you aren't ready for a pregnancy.

Implantation bleeding are literal drops of blood over the course of a few days - maybe enough to fill a light panty liner. This bleeding doesn't have clots. The odds of you being pregnant are very low - about 5%.

It's far more likely that you are experiencing fairly typical side effects of Plan B - irregular bleeding and an irregular cycle for the first month after taking it.

To give you peace of mind, you can test for pregnancy in about 4-5 days but again, your risk is very low. Your cycle should get back to normal within a month.
