Guide

The milk producing glands or ducts can feel like little nodules or lumps before the start of your period.

During pregnancy, hormones in your body prepare your breasts for lactation. The milk ducts are growing and being stretched as they fill with milk early in pregnancy.

You may have fibrocystic breast disease, which is not really a disease, but a commonly used term to describe painful, lumpy breasts. Breasts feel full, swollen and heavy.

If you have had unprotected sex, you could be pregnant. You can only wait. If you don't get your period, wait a week and take a home pregnancy test.

If you get your period and your breast symptoms do not go away, you may want to make an appointment with your physician to rule out a diagnosis of fibrocystic breast disease.
