My period last month was kind of later than I'm usual.. I got it on a thursday and it was very light and didn't last long. This month I usually get my period on a tuesday/wednesday and it's gone by the weekened.. well it's almost the end of thursday and I still haven't gotten it. I am on birth control and the last time I had sex was last month on the wednesday that my period was supposed to show up on. I bought a pregnancy test, but have to wait till tomorrow morning to use it. I haven't felt sick or any different in the past month.

Can anyone explain what could be causing this? Or if it's signs of pregnancy?
Thanks!

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

There are a number of things that could be causing your menstrual cycle to act irregular. Pregnancy is definitely top of the this, but it could just be a case of having an irregular cycle, which many women experience at least once in their lives.

You mentioned being on birth control. How long has it been since you started? If it's been 4 months or less your body could still be still adjusting.

Pregnancy is the first thing to rule out. If your test turns out to be negative, then call and discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

I hope this helps.

Be well,
