Im really desperate right now i've been suffering from PITYRIASIS LICHENOIDES CHRONICA for about 3 months. and it's very hard for me to accept that there is no cure for this horrible thing. Can someone help me how to manage my condition i had it on my face, neck and all over my body. Is it covering it up by using make up can conceal the redness of my rashes? I'm from the Philippines anyway can someone give me names of best cosmetic products for PLC that are available in my country? I really appreciate your help Thank you and more power!

I was just recently diagnosed. My dermatologist said the best thing is to make sure you use cold aloe vera to calm the itching and to take a bath with coal tar. He also recommended the use of Sombra gel and vanicream. I understand that UV therapy is supposed to help as well. I think my biggest hurdle today is learning that there is no cure and that these things that I mentioned are to merely help with the symptoms. I hope this helps.

Hi- My daughter was recently diagnosed with PLC and has spots all over her body. She handles it like a trooper as she has a huge personality. I appreciate being able to read all of the treatment ideas from unscented Dove soap, CeraVe lotion as well as coconut oil. More than that, I am interested in connecting my daughter to other children who have this particular skin condition. Can anyone recommend any support networks that I could connect her to? She really wants to be able to see other kids who "look like" her. I am going to contact her doctor, but I also wanted to reach out here as well.

My son has had it for 3 years, he was recently diagnosed with it a few weeks ago. We are in the pre stages of finding a hospital to do light treatment. He was missed diagnosed for 3 years as having Atopic Dermatitis Eczema by several doctors. We finally brought him to Cleveland Clinic and he had a few biopsies done. He is 8 now, and dealing with it like a trooper, don't even think he remembers his skin looking normal. Wouldn't mind him connecting with young kids like him as well that are going through the same ordeal.

My daughter was diagnosed with PLC in Dec 2014 (posting this is March 2016). She has no new spots and old ones have started to fade away (they turn dark first). We have used triamcinalone wet wraps atleast once / week. i.e. you apply Triamcinalone after bath and wear hot cotton tight dress over it. and then a coat / blanket to keep warm. Also 20 min of sunlight / day whenever possible. Hope this helps whoever has this skin condition. We prayed every night to give us mental strength as its more important to take this for what it is - ie not a deadly or debilitating condition but just a nuisance. what does not kill makes you stronger. OM.

I came down with Pleva in my 30's during the 1980's and doctors first thought it was scabies on my stomach. It just got worse and spread all over my body and I looked like I had chicken pox for 2 yrs. I used to sleep in the bath tub at night because of the horrible itching and wore long sleeves in summer to hide the marks. I was prescribed the new acne medicine, Acutane and that is what saved me. My skin started peeling and the spots started to slowly go away. I have scars all over my body and still have flare ups on my face and neck area as I have aged. At the time it was not well known and did not have the Pleva name but had been in the books since the 1800's. Today I think more people are coming down with it. It was a miserable time in my life and I truly had blocked it out of my mind until I get asked about the scars on my arms which don't tan and are white in color. Life goes on and the symptoms do fade, so stay strong and know you will survive it. 60 yr old school teacher.
