my dr suggests blood work results say i have hep c and i took addtl. blood tests today, friday. results on monday. past 2-3 years i've experienced syptoms: fatigue and pain, throughout my body. rhuematoid numbers are elevated and fibro also a possibility, both run in my family. pain med helps quality of life. haven't slept well and areas of centers of pain are that of fibro, to say nothing of the fibro fog.
could i have contracted hep c and why is it just now showing up. i have children from this man, are they at risk. why hadn't it shown up before? i work at a hospital and i've been tested. will i have to quit my job at the hospital?

Hi,
You could have contracted Hepatitis C from your ex-husband. The risk of getting the virus by unprotected sex with an infected person is a less common cause of transmission. Most people who were recently infected with hepatitis C do not have symptoms. About 1 out of 20 babies born to mothers infected with Hepatitis C will contract the virus. Your children need to be tested. Hepatitis C is treatable. There is no reason why you would need to quit your job at the hospital.
