I have a male friend age 49 that has just been diagnosed with cancer related to Hpv and skin cancer . His ENT wants to do surgery and then the other doctor wants to follow that with radiation. Oncologists wants to do chemo at the same time . He is hesitant because of the horrific side effects .
Do you know or can you find a clinical trial near Arizona . Unfortunately due to government shut down it makes it very hard to search for clinical trials unless you visit each and every hospital or medical center online.
Please see if anyone on the medical Advisory board can recommend the next steps
Thank you

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. I am so sorry to hear about your friend but I will offer you some advice. Have you ever heard of Cancer Centers of America? You can find their link here http://www.cancercenter.com/.
A friend of mine is only 40 and has secondary blood cancer due to poor treatment from his treating physician and was in the same situation about possible chemo treatment when he went to Cancer Centers of America and was treated completely different than the 15 minute (in and out) protocol of his regular doctor. He is a survivor and never had chemo. Anonymous, give them a try as their whole mission in life is to treat everyone as individuals and are cognizant of their patients.
Give them a call and see if they take your friends insurance. From their site, it appears there is a location in Arizona and although it may require traveling - usually insurance will pay for the travel as well. Can you keep us posted? We would like to keep in touch and hear updates about your friend.
Best wishes,
Missie
